![]() The matches are fast and furious, although you can definitely slow down the pace through swaying, blocking, and dodging. ![]() The controls are snappy once you figure them out, and you can make some really nice one-two punch combos pretty easily. this happens for all your punches except your signature punches and your illegal punches, which are button presses.Blocking, parrying, and dodging use the triggers and the left thumbstick, so after 30 minutes of play or so, it becomes pretty easy to control your fighter.Where most boxing games keep you stuck in the middle of the ring, moving in this game is easy, utilizing the left thumbstick for it.How does it play? Smooth. The moves flow along the way of the punches on the right analog stick (XBox version), so, to make a right uppercut, you start at the lower right and slide to the upper right. After this, I was ready for my first fight.Once you pick up on EA's control method, it's really cool. However, I immediately liked it.After taking my licks I then went into the Career Mode, created my fighter (there are a large amount of options to customize them, which is very cool, including weight class, look, and what they wear, etc), and then learned how to throw some straight punches and uppercuts at the gym. I got trounced, not understanding the controls (the manual sucks, as per most EA games I've played), and not understanding how things worked. I think EA has managed to hit the feel, style, and "flavor" of boxing in the face with a right hook, and it feels good.I went into a quickmatch first, picking myself as Rocky Marciano against Muhammad Ali. If you like boxing, this game is where it's at. Unfortunately, most reviews of boxing games in the past few years have been mediocre at best.Enter Fight Night: Round 2, from EA Sports. For some odd reason though, I have an ifinity for any game that involves two people beating the crap out of each other.I've loved boxing games since Ring King and Punch Out, and played as many as I could on the NES and the Genesis, the more realistic ones definitely more my style. football, basketball, baseball, they are all lost on me. Based off of my posts in here, you guys know I'm not a fan of sports games.
